The Land of Teraanga.

Updated: Jan 29, 2021

Over the past year a lot of people asked me exactly where is Senegal and what does the land of Teraanga really mean?

Let me tell you my story.

My name is Tajal Diop, a young West African from the land of Teraanga.

Teraanga? What does it really mean?

Teraanga, means a lot of things but the main meaning behind it is "Hospitality".

I am from the Land of Hospitality, a land where everybody is welcome no matter the color of your skin or your culture.

Senegal is situated in the Western part of Africa. My mother used to tell me that we were living on the Lion's nose, we were right on the tip.

Senegal also has a strong French influence. The majority of the country speaks French either fluently or just a little bit, the other language used the most in Senegal is called "WOLOF".

Wolof is the national language of Senegal spoken by approximately 4 million people.

Senegal is not only known for its hospitality, but it is also known for the landscape, food, music, fashion, and the hot weather.

In this blog, I will talk about one of the most popular places to visit in Senegal.

Have you ever seen a Pink Lake before in your life?

If not you are missing out.

Senegal is the home of The Pink Lake also known as Lake Retba.

This Lake is located on the northern peninsula of Senegal.

Lake Retba is filled with a mix of Salt and Algae which create this pink color that you are seeing on the Lake.
